One of the league’s best teams is about to get better on Friday with the return of its promising star. On Friday, the Tampa Bay Rays activated outfielder Austin Meadows off the 10-day injured list.

The 24-year-old outfielder went down in late April with a sprained right thumb and he is now back with the team after finishing off a short rehab assignment with the club’s Triple-A affiliate.

The impact: Meadows’ left-handed bat will make for a huge addition to Tampa Bay’s lineup as his numbers this season have already demonstrated.

  • In 20 games before the injury, Meadows slashed .351/.422/.676 with a 1.097 OPS.
  • He is an all-around threat whenever he is on the diamond as shown by his six home runs, three stolen bases and 19 RBIs in a very short amount of time.

Now with the New York Yankees in town for an in-division battle, Meadows could be the added push Tampa Bay needs to take the series and further increase its lead in the division over New York.
