Just hours after bringing him in for a workout, the New England Patriots bolstered their receiving corps on Friday by landing a player many teams coveted.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, the Patriots signed wide receiver Dontrelle Inman to a one-year deal, who chose New England over three other teams.

The player: Inman has been a journeyman for much of his NFL career, spending time with three teams over the past two seasons.

  • The 30-year-old played for the Indianapolis Colts in 2018 and hauled in 28 receptions for 334 receiving yards and one touchdown.
  • He stepped up more in the postseason with a combined 108 receiving yards and a touchdown in two games.

The fit: Inman joins a receiving corps that is pretty thin outside of Julian Edelman and first-round pick N’Keal Harry.

  • New England signed Demaryius Thomas in April, but he is still recovering from a torn Achilles tendon.
  • Phillip Dorsett re-signed with the Patriots this offseason but he is still only expected to play in a limited role.

This should be an excellent opportunity for Inman to prove himself with a great organization and quarterback, it’s only made better by the fact he will have a chance to win a Super Bowl as well.
