Mets Manager Mickey Callaway will not be fired this weekend

Fresh off losing their fourth consecutive game, a one-hitter at the hands of an awful Miami Marlins team, New York Mets Manager Mickey Callaway is set to get fired.

Reports surfaced following Saturday’s game that a firing is imminent. Though, according to this report, Callaway’s job is safe through at least the weekend.

As noted, the reasoning is that New York’s brass does not want to fire its manager during a road trip. The Mets host Washington on Monday and don’t have an off day until June 3.

Callaway posted a 77-85 record in his first season as the Mets’ manager.

That was a decent performance. But given what general manager Brodie Van Wagenen and Co. did during the winter to improve New York’s roster, a 20-24 record is not acceptable.
