Ezekiel Elliott was detained but not arrested at a Las Vegas music festival last weekend, and Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones doesn’t anticipate any league discipline stemming from the incident.
Speaking with reporters on Thursday, Jones also noted he didn’t anticipate the incident having any impact on contract negotiations with Elliott.
“I think that the main thing is that I don’t see anything that needs supporting,” Jones said Thursday, per Todd Archer of ESPN. “In terms of his status with us, (it) has not been impacted in any way and frankly I know how conscientious he has been in the offseason and that’s good enough. No, I don’t see that having any consequences for us.”
The NFL will certainly look into the incident involving Elliott and the security guard at the Las Vegas festival. As reported by TMZ earlier in the week, Elliott could have been charged with a misdemeanor for shoving the staff member. However, the guard declined to press charges.
Recent reports indicate that while the Cowboys and Elliott’s representatives are working to extend the running back, no contract has yet been offered.
