Could LeBron James end up with the Knicks?

Rumors persist that the Los Angeles Lakers could very well look to trade LeBron James less than a calendar year after signing him.

Those close to Lakers head honcho Jeanie Buss would prefer for Los Angeles to move its best player.

That’s now magnified after James’ handpicked option to become the Lakers’ new head coach is no longer an option.

Whether the Lakers move James remains to be seen. But according to the oddsmakers site Bovada, there are significant odds that James could be traded.

If so, the New York Knicks come in as a top option.

  • Los Angeles Lakers: -600
  • New York Knicks: +700
  • Los Angeles Clippers: +700
  • Cleveland Cavaliers: +1000
  • Miami Heat: +1000

None of these teams are terribly surprising. James opted for the Lakers in large part because of the market. If that’s the case, New York makes a ton of sense.

Meanwhile, James’ two former teams could very well decide he is worth it.

Even then, it seems to be a long shot to believe James will be traded. First off, he’d pretty much have to accept said trade.

Secondly, what teams out there are willing to blow it up to bring an aging James in? Not many.

As it relates to the Knicks, James would be a consolation prize should they miss out on Kevin Durant this summer. With Kyrie Irving being a possibility in New York, that would be rather intriguing.
