Angels’ SP Andrew Heaney to make season debut on Sunday

The Los Angeles Angels rotation has been decimated by injuries this season. Now, they’ll finally get back one of their key starters.

Starting pitcher Andrew Heaney will come off the injured list on Sunday and make his 2019 debut after missing the first quarter of the season with an elbow injury.

The 27-year-old proved fairly reliable for Los Angeles during the 2018 season with a 1.20 WHIP and 180 strikeouts across 180 innings.

Heaney made one lone rehab start in the minors and struck out 10 batters with only three base runners allowed to reach across 4.1 innings.

The southpaw’s return to the rotation on Sunday against the Texas Rangers is a significant boost given he’ll return to a rotation with the worst team ERA (5.86) in the majors.
