Minor League team celebrates successful April Fool’s prank

The Omaha Storm Chasers — a Minor League affiliate of the Kansas City Royals — are in the April Fool’s Day spirit. Darren Rovell of the Action Network got caught.

On Monday morning, the Storm Chasers posted on Twitter that for one game this season, they’ll be called the Omaha Potholes.

Rovell took the bait. When he did, the Storm Chasers were understandably quite proud.

Solid.

The obvious tell, which Rovell later noted that he missed, is that June 31 does not exist. As the old rhyme goes, 30 days hath September, April, June, and November.

For his part, Rovell retweeted the Storm Chasers tweet. So he seems to be being a good sport, which is commendable.

And to be fair to Rovell, even if true, this would be far from the strangest Minor League rebranding we’ve ever seen.
