Selecting No. 8 overall in this month’s NFL Draft, the Detroit Lions have an opportunity to add one of the best players on their big board.

However, general manager Bob Quinn noted on Wednesday that the team would prefer to move down from that spot.

“I always like draft picks, so if we can move back a couple spots and pick up another pick, I think the depth of this draft from the late first to the third, there’s a lot of really good players in there,” Quinn said, via NFL Media. “If I could move back a few spots, add a great player and a pick, that’d be something that would be great.”

A lot of this will depend on who might be available to the Lions with their selection. If a player at a need position and value line up, Detroit might be inclined to stand pat.

There’s also a chance that one of the draft’s top quarterbacks is on the board at eight. If so, teams will come calling about a potential trade up with Detroit.

As it is, we’re expecting a lot of moves within the top-10 picks of the 2019 NFL Draft. That will be magnified if the Arizona Cardinals take Kyler Murray with the top selection.
