Report: Nationals deal with RP Bud Norris falls through

In desperate need of more help for their bullpen, the Washington Nationals were hopeful Bud Norris could come in and strengthen the unit. Now less than 48 hours after reportedly agreeing to a contract, it has fallen apart.

According to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, Washington determined that Norris is still four-to-five weeks away from being ready to work in an MLB bullpen. Given the team’s need for immediate help, the club opted to explore more immediate options.

The 34-year-old reliever shouldn’t struggle to find a new interested team even after this deal fell apart. Norris posted a 3.59 ERA across 57.2 innings with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2018 and can provide a steady arm for a ball club once his arm is ready for a return.
