Arike Ogunbowale in tears after failing to tie game with two big mistakes at free-throw line

Arike Ogunbowale

Down by two points with 1.9 seconds remaining in regulation against Baylor in the NCAA Women’s National Championship Game, Arike Ogunbowale had a chance to tie with two free throws.

One of the most clutch players in college basketball, Ogunbowale missed the first. Then, trying to miss the second so Notre Dame could try for the offensive rebound and put-back shot, she accidentally sunk it.

This was exactly what happened to Duke’s JT Barrett just days ago.

Ogunbowale was in tears walking off the court after coming oh, so close to repeating.

It was just a heart-breaking way to end what had been a stellar game for Ogunbowale, and the Fighting Irish. Baylor ended up winning by one point, and in a losing effort Ogunbowale put up 31 points, six rebounds and two steals.
