WATCH: Jeremy Maclin announces retirement during wife’s baby shower

Jeremy Maclin has officially called it a career. The 30-year-old receiver announced his retirement from the NFL during his wife’s baby shower on Sunday.

Maclin also took to social media later on to confirm he will be officially filing paperwork with the league soon.

Originally a first-round pick (No. 19 overall) by the Philadelphia Eagles during the 2009 NFL Draft out of Missouri, Maclin played a total of eight seasons in the NFL (not counting the 2013 season, which he missed entirely due to a torn ACL).

He spent time with the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens after leaving Philly in free agency ahead of the 2015 season. During the course of his career, Maclin caught 514 passes for 6,845 yards and 49 touchdowns.

Maclin didn’t play at all in 2018 after being released by Baltimore ahead of free agency last season.
