After spending one year away from the team that drafted him, Vinny Curry is reportedly heading back to re-join the Philadelphia Eagles.

Zach Berman of the Philadelphia Inquirer reports Curry and the Eagles are nearing a deal that would bring him back to the City of Brotherly Love.

Last year, Curry signed a three-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He played in 12 games, was minimally effective with 21 tackles and 2.5 sacks. In February, the Bucs released Curry into the open market.

Originally a second-round pick out of Marshall in 2012, Curry broke out with a big third season in 2014. Appearing in all 16 games that year, he racked up nine sacks. Overall, however, Curry has proven himself as more of a role player than a featured pass rusher.

Over the course of his seven-year career, he’s tallied 151 total tackles, 24.5 sacks, and two interceptions.

Coming back to Philly seems like a logical move, both for Curry and the Eagles. He is a solid rotational defensive lineman and fits in nicely with the lineup the team features.
