When the No. 8 seed Syracuse Orange take on Baylor in the first round of the NCAA Tournament this week, they will be without starting guard Frank Howard.
Syracuse announced on Wednesday that Howard has been suspended for the entire tournament for a “violation of athletic department policy.”

While there’s no concrete information out to suggest why Howard has been suspended, it likely stems from his attempt to injure Duke star Zion Williamson in the ACC Tournament last week. Watch the play in question here.
This is rather stunning action for Syracuse to take. While the objective person concludes that Howard blatantly attempted to trip Williamson, his importance to the Orange is well known.
The senior is Syracuse’s fourth-leading scorer at just under nine points per game. He’s now played his final college game. What a way to go out.
