Report: Ravens bringing back backup QB Robert Griffin III

Robert Griffin III trade

While Robert Griffin III played only sparingly for the Baltimore Ravens in 2018, he obviously did enough on and off the field to impress the team.

Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reported on Thursday that the Ravens are bringing Griffin back.

In his first NFL action since 2016, Griffin got into three games for Baltimore in 2018. In total, he attempted only six passes, completing two of them for 33 yards, and had no touchdowns or interceptions.

But obviously, this goes beyond what he did in limited game action. In trading Joe Flacco, the Ravens clearly made the decision to revolve the offense around Lamar Jackson.

With that in mind, it stands to reason that they’d want to make things as comfortable for Jackson as possible. And if Griffin’s presence made things better for Jackson, then bringing him back only makes sense.
