Report: Giants not actively shopping Odell Beckham Jr.

The New York Giants are reportedly not actively trying to trade superstar wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. at this time.

“[Giants] are not actively going to go out and trade Odell Beckham Jr.,” ESPN’s Jordan Raanan said on the Breaking Big Blue Podcast. “But if somebody’s going to talk to them about Odell and put in an offer, they’re going to listen.”

This falls right in line with what general manager Dave Gettleman said about the situation during the week of the combine.

However, it doesn’t mean a deal cannot happen. Ranaan did say that the San Francisco 49ers remain interested, noting that their the No. 2 overall pick might “get the Giants to think about it.”

There is a financial hurdle to overcome, in that the Giants would be on the hook for $16 million in dead cap money by trading OBJ.

One of the most dynamic receivers in the NFL, Beckham would likely cost plenty more than what the Oakland Raiders gave up for Antonio Brown. Still just 26 years of age, he’s already racked up 390 receptions for 5,476 yards and 44 touchdowns in five years as a pro.
