Raiders reportedly out on Le’Veon Bell due to cash (not cap) constraints

The Oakland Raiders reportedly cannot afford to bring in Le’Veon Bell. Oh, they have plenty of cap space, but in terms of real money, they’re short.

That’s the latest news coming out of ESPN’s Chris Mortensen’s mouth, anyway. He said on SportsCenter Monday that the Raiders are struggling with a real cash issue and will be limited when it comes to signing other big-name players.

This is an issue that’s been raised before, particularly when Oakland was in the preliminary talks about moving to Las Vegas.

The irony here is that Oakland will soon be making Mr. Big Chest himself, Antonio Brown, very rich on what figures to be a relatively short-term deal that might come to a conclusion well before the Raiders are even contenders.

Furthermore, Oakland reportedly agreed on a record-breaking contract with left tackle Trent Brown, who is nowhere near an elite player at his position.

And one further point here is that the Raiders are paying Jon Gruden an obscene amount of real cash to not only coach the team but to make all these ridiculous moves in the first place.

On top of it all, the team is heading to Las Vegas in 2020, apparently with quite the empty bank account.
