MRI on Lakers’ Kyle Kuzma’s ankle negative, considered day-to-day

As the Los Angeles Lakers fall out of playoff contention out west, the team got some relatively good news.

Star power forward Kyle Kuzma injured his right ankle during Monday night’s loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. He was seen limping considerably after the game.

Fortunately, an MRI on Kuzma’s injured ankle came back negative on Tuesday. He’s considered day-to-day.

The Lakers’ second-leading scorer behind LeBron James, Kuzma has turned in a tremendous sophomore season. He heads into Tuesday’s action averaging 18.8 points and 5.6 rebounds while shooting at a robust 47 percent from the field.

Los Angeles will need to get Kuzma back on the court as soon as possible. It’s not time for the team to take it slow with the forward. It’s currently 30-34 on the season — 5.5 games out of the final playoff spot out west.
