In 2018, the San Jose Giants briefly changed their name to the San Jose Churros. The promotion obviously went well, as the team is running it again in 2019.
The Giants — the Advanced-A affiliate of the San Francisco Giants — announced on Monday that as part of Copa de la Diversión (or Fun Cup), they’ll be known as the San Jose Churros for four games during the upcoming season.

If you’re suddenly finding yourself in the mood for a churro and/or some Minor League Baseball, we can’t say we blame you.
Per MiLB.com, Copa de la Diversión “is a season-long event series specifically designed to embrace the culture and values that resonate most with participating teams’ local U.S. Hispanic/Latino communities.”
In the case of this team, there’s absolutely need to go away from what works.
