Kentucky’s PJ Washington to test his foot, could play Friday

The Kentucky Wildcats might have star forward PJ Washington back for their Sweet 16 matchup against Houston on Friday.

On Wednesday, Washington teased his improving health with a short video of himself walking without the hard cast he had been wearing last week.

Washington told reporters that his sprained left foot is feeling better, and that he’ll test it out on the court in practice Thursday.

Speaking about this situation, head coach John Calipari also said he’s not sure if Washington will be able to play in the Sweet 16 against Houston, noting it would be up to the player and that it would be a pain issue.

Kentucky cruised past Abilene Christian in the first round but struggled to beat Wofford by just six points in Round 2. Needless to say, getting Washington back for the final rounds of the NCAA Tournament would be huge.

On the season, Washington averaged 14.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.9 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game.
