High school mascot inspired by Tom Brady

Not hardly a day goes by when New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady does not make the news.

This latest news involving Brady comes from a high school out of Virginia that is designing a new warrior-themed mascot — “Staunton Storm” — inspired by this quote from Brady:

“Fate whispers to the warrior, ‘you cannot withstand the storm.’ The warrior whispers back, ‘I am the storm.’”

Per the report, Brady posted this quote to his Instagram prior to the NFL playoffs this past postseason.

The high school’s principal, Nate Collins, shared this about the new mascot and how he thinks it will raise awareness to individual diversity.

“The warrior’s shield acknowledges our role as protectors and our responsibility to each other,” Collins said, per Patrick Hite, of Staunton News Leader. “The lightning bolt is indicative of our power and our desire to always ‘lead the charge,’ a motto we often reference at the high school. And finally, the classic Greek styling of the warrior is a nod to history and a reflection of our city, known for its classic architecture, including many in the Greek Revival style.”

According to the report, the mascot will look like a warrior holding a lightening bolt and shield that displays a large “S” on it.

This is pretty cool and it was noted by the principal that “no other high school in Virginia has the nickname “Storm.”

Leave it to Brady to create news even during this very slow time in the NFL for the quarterback.
