Former World Series MVP John Wetteland indicted on child sex charges

Yankees

In January, John Wetteland was charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14.

On Thursday, the former World Series MVP was indicted (per Nichole Manna, Fort Worth Star-Telegram).

“A probable cause affidavit says Wetteland is accused of sexually assaulting a child who was known to him between 2004 and 2006,” the initial report from Manna and Jeff Wilson said. “The child was under the age of 10 and the alleged assault happened three times.”

It goes without saying, but these are obviously some very serious charges. If Wetteland is found guilty, he’ll face some serious time in jail.

Wetteland’s MLB career lasted from 1989-2000. He pitched for the Los Angeles Dodgers, Montreal Expos, New York Yankees, and Texas Rangers. He made three All-Star Games (1996, 1998, 1999) and won the 1996 World Series MVP as a member of the Yankees.
