DeMarcus Ware wants ‘to get the band back together’ in Dallas

DeMarcus Ware

Thursday’s news that future Hall of Fame tight end Jason Witten has decided to leave the ESPN broadcast booth after one year and return to the Dallas Cowboys shocked an unsuspecting audience.

At 36 years old and one year removed from actually seeing the field, it’s not known how much of an impact the 11-time Pro Bowler will have in 2019. But he will remind Cowboys fans of a bygone era that saw the likes of Tony Romo and DeMarcus Ware star in Big D.

Apparently, Ware himself wants to get the band back together and try this whole comeback thing. He also wants to bring former teammate and broadcaster Tony Romo with him.

As tongue in cheek as this might be, the 36-year-old Ware might actually have something left in the tank. He last played for the Denver Broncos in 2016 — recording eight quarterback hits and four sacks.

Given pass rusher Randy Gregory has been suspended indefinitely by the NFL, Dallas could use some help out on the edge. Okay, it’s not happening. That doesn’t mean a man can’t dream, right?

We’re also pretty darn sure Romo won’t give up his legendary status in the CBS broadcast booth to get knocked around on the football field. Sure he’s received interest from teams. But that’s not happening.
