Chargers reportedly land former Pro-Bowl LB Thomas Davis

The Los Angeles Chargers have added a veteran leader to their defense, reportedly signing former Carolina Panthers linebacker Thomas Davis.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports it’s a three-year deal for the three-time Pro-Bowl linebacker.

Thomas, 35, has spent his entire career to this point with Carolina. The former first-round pick back in 2005 out of Georgia has been a stellar player throughout his career, during which he has tallied 158 starts.

Over the course of his career, Thomas has racked up 1,111 tackles, 13 interceptions, 28 sacks, 18 forced fumbles, and 11 fumble recoveries. Appearing in 12 games last year, he tallied 79 tackles, two fumble recoveries and six defensed passes.

He should be an ideal mentor for Denzel Perryman, who recently signed a short-term deal with Los Angeles to remain with the team that drafted him.
