Bears said to be interested in RB Adrian Peterson

Adrian Peterson runs the ball against the New York Giants

Future Hall of Fame running back Adrian Peterson didn’t latch on with a team last year until Washington Redskins rookie Derrius Guice went down with a torn ACL during the summer.

After what we saw from the soon-to-be 34-year-old Peterson in the nation’s capital, he’s unlikely to have to wait as long this year.

According to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo, the Chicago Bears are one of the teams interested in Peterson early in the process. He noted that Bears head coach Matt Nagy is close friend with Brad Childress, who just so happened to coach Peterson in Minnesota from 2007-10.

Why is this significant? Childress is slated to come out of retirement and act as an assistant under Nagy for the Bears next season.

A seven-time Pro Bowler, Peterson turned in a tremendous season for Washington in 2018. He tallied 1,250 total yards and eight touchdowns while averaging a solid 4.2 yards per attempt.

Given that incumbent starter Jordan Howard is on the trade block, the Bears could make some sense for Peterson. It’s something to keep an eye on.
