One of the holdovers from the glory years of Arkansas basketball is no longer going to be on the bench for the Razorbacks.

According to this report from basketball insider Jeff Goodman, Arkansas has fired head coach Mike Anderson after eight seasons.

Anderson, 59, took over for John Pelphrey as Arkansas’ head coach back in 2011. He proceeded to lead the program to just three NCAA Tournament appearances in eight seasons.

This past season saw the Razorbacks post an 18-16 record en route to being eliminated in the second round of the NIT Tournament.

A longtime assistant for Arkansas under the legendary Nolan Richardson, Anderson simply wasn’t able to recreate the glory years of the 1980s and 1990s.
