Antonio Brown ‘pissed off and has something to prove,’ Raiders GM says

Antonio Brown

Look out, NFL defensive secondaries. Antonio Brown is a man on a mission after being traded from Pittsburgh to Oakland for a relative bag of peanuts.

Raiders general manager Mike Mayock told reporters on Monday at the annual league meeting that Brown, “is a little pissed off and has something to prove, and we’re going to be the beneficiaries,” per Vic Tafur of The Athletic.

Given the way things ended between Brown and the Steelers, this isn’t a revelatory statement. Yet having it come out of Mayock’s mouth brings the sentiment into the light all the more.

It’s also kind of frightening to think what might potentially transpire for Brown in Oakland, if everything lines up in his favor. After all, here’s a guy who has averaged insane totals in receptions, yardage, and touchdowns, the past six years in Pittsburgh. What’s he going to do now that he feels he has something to prove?

On the other hand, Oakland is dealing with some interesting dynamics at the most important position on offense. Despite saying Derek Car is the man, the Raiders have private workouts scheduled with two of the 2019 NFL Draft’s top quarterbacks who’d need to be selected early in Round 1 if they land in Oakland.

The Raiders’ 2019 NFL season should be at the least extremely interesting to watch unfold.
