Alabama reportedly to hire Buffalo’s Nate Oats as next men’s basketball coach

The Alabama Crimson Tide will reportedly be hiring Buffalo head coach Nate Oats to replace Avery Johnson.

Oats has been the head coach at Buffalo since 2015, guiding the Bulls to a 97-43 record overall. Buffalo is coming off an incredibly successful season that saw the Bulls lose just four games.

His team made it to the second round of the NCAA Tournament the past two years and was beaten by Texas Tech last weekend.

Alabama had been connected to Rick Pitino recently, but it appears the program has opted for a much safer choice.
