Sixers’ Boban Marjanovic joins Joel Embiid in elite company

We’re never going to hear Philadelphia 76ers center Boban Marjanovic mentioned among the NBA’s best players. But in the limited action the 7-foor-3 Serbian has seen throughout his four-year career, he’s more than made it count.

Just recently acquired from the Clippers in the Tobias Harris blockbuster trade, Marjanovic was on one Thursday night against the Miami Heat. He put up 16 points and 12 boards in the first three quarters alone.

By virtue of those 16 points, Boban crossed the 1,000-point plateau for his career — becoming the second quickest member of that club among active players behind teammate Joel Embiid.

It is pretty astonishing what the 30-year-old Marjanovic has been able to do in limited minutes throughout his career.

He entered Thursday’s action averaging 7.0 points and 4.3 rebounds in 13 minutes of action per game for Philadelphia. Prior to being traded from the Clippers, this massive center was averaging 6.7 points in just 10 minutes of action.

Yeah, we know now why both Boban’s current and former teammates love him. He’s rock solid.
