Packers president: Aaron Rodgers ‘has to embrace’ new HC

After a poor 2018 campaign, there was little love lost between Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers and former head coach Mike McCarthy, who was fired last season.

Looking ahead to 2019, Rodgers will be working with new head coach Matt LaFleur. With new and exciting things on the horizon for the Packers, president Mark Murphy had this to say in regards to Rodgers working alongside LaFleur.

“He has to embrace it,” Murphy said, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “And I think he is. I hope he adapts well. I’m excited. I know he’s excited.”

What else is there possibly to do?

Rodgers and the Packers are returning from a bum 2018 season after finishing third place in the NFC North. The 6-9-1 record was the Packers’ worst finish since 2008.

Though, trying his best under stressful leadership by McCarthy, Rodgers still managed to pass for 4,442 yards and 25 touchdowns compared to just two interceptions on the season.

A fresh change of scenery in Green Bay should hopefully help the Packers get back on track.
