Bruce Bochy ‘enjoyed’ meeting with Bryce Harper, ‘he’s a baseball rat’

Free agent outfielder Bryce Harper could end up signing with the San Francisco Giants. If he does he’ll have a fan in manager Bruce Bochy.

Speaking on the “Murph and Mac” show on KNBR in San Francisco, Bochy made it known that his visit with Harper went well.

“I enjoyed my visit with him, he’s very engaged and he’s a baseball rat, that’s all he wants to do,” Bochy said, H/T Taylor Wirth, KNBR.

Harper’s free agency has been a long saga.

On Monday, the Los Angeles Dodgers were discussed as a possible team, though manager Dave Roberts wasn’t especially optimistic. The Philadelphia Phillies would seem to be the favorites. Though in the same interview, Bochy did say that the Giants were “still in the hunt.”

There’s obviously a lot that can still happen. But if the Giants want to give Bochy a nice parting gift in the final year before he retires, it seems like signing Harper would do the trick.
