Texans fans perplexed by newest coaching hire

Troy Taormina-USA TODAY Sports

It’s probably a good thing that the Houston Texans waited until Super Bowl Week to announce the newest addition to their coaching staff.

Everything else is flying under the radar as the New England Patriots and Los Angeles Rams prepare for Super Bowl LIII in Atlanta this coming Sunday.

So when it was reported that the Texans have hired former linebacker and well-known PED user Brian Cushing to work with their defense in the strength and conditioning capacity, it wasn’t going to get a lot of play.

We can throw that one out the window. Cushing was suspended four games during the 2010 season after testing positive for performance enhancing drugs.

Then, in 2017, the former USC standout was suspended another 10 games for PED use. That pretty much ended his NFL career.

This wasn’t lost on Texans fans responding to Tuesday’s news.

But hey, Tom Brady is a “known cheater,” right?
