Kirk Cousins not worth the money? Vikings WR says ‘that’s a lie’

The Minnesota Vikings handed quarterback Kirk Cousins a landmark, record-breaking deal last spring. The team then failed to even make the playoffs, but one of Cousins’ teammates rushed to his defense and says he’s worth all that cash.

Laquan Treadwell on the notion Cousins is not worth his massive contract: “That’s a lie,” he said, per TMZ Sports. “He a baller.”

“It’s the first year. We was a little rusty, but we’re going to bounce back. You know? We was learning each other. Chemistry.”

By the numbers: Statistically speaking, Cousins put up impressive totals.

  • 66.5 percent completion rate, passing for 4,298 yards with 30 touchdowns and 10 interceptions.
  • He helped Adam Thielen and Stefon Diggs make franchise history as first duo with 100-plus catches. Thielen finished with 113 catches for 1,373 yards, while Diggs caught 102 passes for 1,021 yards. Each had nine touchdown receptions.

Why stats can lie: Cousins failed when it mattered most.

  • When the Vikings needed big games against top teams, Cousins failed to come through. They finished with a record of 8-7-1, missing the playoffs altogether.
  • It was a huge step back for a team that was oh, so close to making the Super Bowl last year…with Case Keenum under center.
  • Cousins now is 4-24 in his career against teams with a winning record at the time of the game being played.
