Kevin Durant to go out of his way to attend Nick Collison jersey retirement

Kevin Durant

Kevin Durant is going to make a special trip in between Golden State Warriors games this March to attend the event celebrating Nick Collinson’s jersey retirement.

Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN shared a conversation he had with Durant about the trip.

“That group was so special, that whole group from 2010 until I left there, it was special,” Durant told ESPN. “It’s about time for us to let go of all that extra stuff, and just come together — especially around this time, because it’s Nick.”

Wojnarowski reports the Oklahoma City Thunder are aware of Durant’s plans and have every intention of accommodating him as he honors his old teammate.

Durant will certainly make a sacrifice to attend. He told Wojnarowski he’ll be travelling from the Warriors game on March 19 in Minneapolis to Oklahoma City for the March 20 event before hitting the road back home for a game against Indiana the next day.

On the subject of Durant potentially mending fences for a return to Oklahoma City as a free agent, rest easy Warriors fans — it’s not happening, per Wojnarowski. Of course, if you’ve been following Durant’s story, you already knew that.
