Could the Sixers trade Markelle Fultz for Hawks big man?

Outside of the Anthony Davis situation with the New Orleans Pelicans, the Philadelphia 76ers remain the most-interesting team ahead of next week’s NBA trade deadline. Philadelphia heads into Wednesday’s action with a solid 33-18 record.

Unfortunately for Philadelphia, a lack of depth has come back to haunt this team at times during the 2018-19 season. Simply put, the Sixers boast a top-heavy roster.

In an attempt to rectify this, the Sixers have reportedly shown interest in Atlanta Hawks center Dewayne Dedmon.

“Atlanta Hawks big man Dewayne Dedmon has drawn the 76ers’ interest, sources tell ESPN. He would bring athleticism and defense, along with shooting,” ESPN’s Tim Bontemps noted on Wednesday.

Dedmon would be an absolute find for Philadelphia. The veteran is averaging 10.3 points and 7.4 rebounds this season. He’d fit perfectly with Joel Embiid in the front court.

At issue here is Atlanta’s asking price. Bontemps noted that Atlanta would likely demand Markelle Fultz in a trade.

Whether the Sixers would move the injured former No. 1 pick remains to be seen. But speculation has heated up in recent weeks that this could very well happen.

Fultz’ $8.3 million salary for this season makes him a key cog in the Sixers’ attempt to upgrade their roster. It’s in this that speculation continues to come up that Philly might look to move the struggling youngster ahead of the trade deadline.
