Clint Capela out 4-6 weeks with thumb injury, per report

Houston Rockets center Clint Capela is going to miss four to six weeks with an injury to his right thumb, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

Capela had already been ruled out of Monday night’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies, but he didn’t think his injury was serious after Sunday’s game.

Capella injured his right thumb playing against the Orlando Magic but remained in the game and played through the pain.

Afterward, he said, “As I was going up for the lob, I got hit in the hand. We’re going to see what is it when we go back home. It’s just sore right now. We can’t really see anything (on the X-ray) yet. We’ll see what happens.”

Apparently further testing showed more serious damage.

This season, Capella is averaging 17.6 points, 12.6 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game. With him out of the lineup, Houston will likely rely more on Nene and Marquese Chriss to pick up the slack.
