Antonio Brown odds: 49ers, Jets top the list

Scott R. Galvin-USA TODAY Sports

It’s pretty clear at this point that it’ll take a miraculous change of events for Antonio Brown and the Pittsburgh Steelers to reconcile their differences.

The team’s owner recently made comments that make a trade all but a given, and Brown has done plenty on his own to make sure everyone knows where he stands.

Now some new odds have emerged on where Brown will play next year, and the San Francisco 49ers and New York Jets are right at the top of the list.

The fact that San Francisco is seen as the heavy favorite to land Brown shouldn’t be a big surprise. Brown himself told Jerry Rice that he “wants to come here really bad,” and the 49ers have a few players who’ve heavily recruited him in the past week.

The 49ers also have plenty of money to throw around and have an up-and-coming offense led by an up-and-coming offensive-minded head coach.

New York is also an intriguing option. The Jets are also seen by oddmakers as the top landing spot for one of Brown’s former teammates, running back Le’Veon Bell, and also have a ton of cash to spend.

Buffalo and Arizona could be players, but it’s hard to imagine Brown wanting to saddle himself with such a raw quarterback in Josh Allen, and he probably wants to win right away, which isn’t something the Cardinals are likely to do.

Indianapolis is very intriguing. The Colts will have more money to spend in 2019 than any other NFL team and have an amazing quarterback in Andrew Luck, who thrived in the offensive system of first-hear head coach Frank Reich.

All the way down at the bottom of this top-13 list, of course, is Pittsburgh. Things technically could still work out between the two parties, and Brown might end up playing there once again. But that outcome seems very unlikely at this point and time.
