The Houston Astros added a big bat to the lineup earlier this week in signing outfielder Michael Brantley away from the Cleveland Indians.
In no way does this mean the defending AL West champions are done adding to their lineup. Linked to another outfielder in that of Nelson Cruz in recent days, the Astros have reportedly talked to the Miami Marlins about All-Star catcher J.T. Realmuto.
The daily Realmuto : Can confirm Astros did make contact w Marlins. Can’t go much beyond that unfortunately. @JoeFrisaro noted this earlier. Wish I had something juicy that could get a denial from someone but not today unfortunately. % updated.

We can now add Houston to a bevy of teams that have shown interest in one of the game’s best backstops. With veteran Brian McCann having signed with the Braves this winter, there’s certainly a hole to fill behind home plate in Houston.
The team signed Robinson Chirinos away from the division-rival Rangers earlier in the month. But he leaves a lot to be desired at the plate. The veteran hit just .222 with a .338 OBP for Texas a season ago. Needless to say, Realmuto would be a major upgrade for the Astros.
