NFL official put on leave after altercation with Bills player

NFL

For the second time in his career as an NFL official Roy Ellison is facing discipline from the league.

Ellison got into a heated conversation with Buffalo Bills pass rusher Jerry Hughes after his team’s game against the Miami Dolphins this past Sunday. It happened in the tunnel to the locker room. And clearly, Ellison said something to set Hughes off.

The NFL is now looking into the situation and has placed Ellison on paid administrative leave.

As NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport notes, Ellison was involved in an incident with Redskins left tackle Trent Williams back in 2013. It led to him being suspended. Any punishment in regards to this situation might go a step further.

It was one of a couple examples of the officials looking back this past weekend around the NFL.
