Klay Thompson absolutely blasts the ‘petty’ Cavaliers

There’s no love lost between Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson and the Cleveland Cavaliers.

After meeting up in the Finals in each of the past four seasons, Thompson and his Warriors head to Cleveland Wednesday night in a game that’s not going to remind us much of these NBA Finals matchups.

Even then, it seems Thompson is still a bit upset over the pettiness of those previous LeBron James-led Cavaliers squads.

In response to a question about a Halloween party James threw following Cleveland’s sole Finals win over Golden State back in 2016 depicting the Warriors to be dead, Thompson did not hold back. At. All.

“Oh, yeah. Ha! That was funny. Look how that turned out. Psssh. Bums. That was crazy,” Thompson said, via Anthony Slater of The Athletic. “I forgot about that. Well, look at what pettiness gets you. Gets you 1-8 in the Finals. Idiots.”

Tell us how you really feel, Klay.

After Cleveland defeated a 73-win Warriors team in the 2016 NBA Finals, Golden State went out there and signed Kevin Durant. Thompson and Co. would then earn the next two championships — winning eight of nine games in the process.

The petty is real here.

Unfortunately, there’s unlikely to be much drama in Cleveland come Wednesday night. The Cavaliers boast a 5-18 record on the season. Meanwhile, Golden State remains a top contender to earn a third consecutive title.

We might have to wait until Christmas to see the petty really play out here. That’s when James and his new Lakers team head to Oakland to play the Warriors.
