WATCH: Notre Dame to pay homage to Yankees on Saturday

Notre Dame is looking to go 11-0 on the season and keep its playoff aspirations alive Saturday against a good Syracuse team at Yankee Stadium in New York.

It’s the continuation of the Shamrock Series that has defined Irish football over the past several seasons.

But there’s one caveat for Saturday’s game. For the first time in college football history, a team will be wearing pinstripes on its uniform.

It’s in this that Brian Kelly’s squad will be paying homage to the hometown Yankees during the game.

As you can see, the Yankee-centric pinstripes will be on both the pants and the helmet for this game.

From a fashion point of view, this might not be the greatest of looks. It’s also interesting that the Irish, not Syracuse, would be paying their respects to a New York-based team. But we digress.

Notre Dame heads into Saturday’s action in need of two more wins to cement its status as a College Football Playoff team. It currently ranks No. 3 in the most-recent standings. Meanwhile, the Orange come in at a surprising 8-2 overall and ranked No. 12 in the nation.
