The USC Trojans are sticking with Clay Helton for the foreseeable future. Athletic director Lynn Swann announced Sunday that “Clay Helton is our head coach and he will continue to be our head coach.”

This puts an end to the already rampant rumors about who would come in to replace Helton.
USC won’t qualify for a bowl game this year for the first time since Pete Carroll came on board back in 2000 (minus sanctions). Helton’s Trojans finished the season with a 24-17 loss to Notre Dame, and just five wins.
Since he took over permanently in 2015, Helton has led the program to a 31-17 record, and including his 2013 interim work he’s 2-2 in bowl games.
