Report: Would be a surprise if Colts targeted Le’Veon Bell

Holdout Pittsburgh Steelers running back Le’Veon Bell created quite the craze when he posted a photo of Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck, suggesting that he’d like to play with the veteran signal caller.

Sitting out this season due to a contract stalament, the All-Pro running back will more than likely hit free agency in March. If so, there’s going to be a huge market for his services.

But according to Albert Brees of MMQB, don’t look for Indianapolis to actually target Bell. Instead, the team’s focus is likely going to be on adding another receiver for Luck or a pass rusher on defense.

“I’d be surprised, based on what I know, if Bell is the guy they (the Colts) target,” Breer said. “My feeling is that getting an impact receiver and pass rusher would top the list for Indianapolis.”

In the midst of a five-game winning streak, the Colts have seen somewhat of an improved rushing attack. They rank 18th in the NFL at just under 113 yards per game. Even then, that’s not where head coach Frank Reich and Co. want to be.

Prior to sitting out this season, the 26-year-old Bell had proven to be among the most-dynamic backs in the game. The three-time Pro Bowler recorded 3,830 total yards and 20 touchdowns over his past two full seasons with Pittsburgh.
