Report: Boston College RB AJ Dillon (ankle) will start against Clemson

If the Boston College Eagles are going to upset Clemson this Saturday, then it’s likely they’ll need star running back AJ Dillon to play a big role.

On that note, there’s good news following last weekend’s game, which saw him sit out the fourth quarter with the ankle injury that forced him to miss two previous games this season.

Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports reports Dillon will start for the Eagles against Clemson, noting “sources are optimistic about his health.”

The Eagles have lost just once this year when Dillon was playing. Since he came back from missing two games in the middle of the season, he’s been on a tear, and Boston College has knocked off Virginia Tech and Miami.

Appearing in just seven games this season, Dillon has racked up 897 yards and eight scores on the ground, adding 43 yards and a touchdown on eight receptions.

This weekend’s test against Clemson will be both his and the team’s biggest of the season. The Tigers are undefeated and have been destroying opponents of late, very much looking like a team that has the potential to knock of Alabama in the playoff.
