Even as a 36-year-old, Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers continues to play at an extremely high level. On Sunday, he showed that by setting an NFL record with 23 consecutive passes completed to start the game.
Rivers was sharp from the start in this one as the offense moved methodically down the field on nearly every drive. After finishing the first half having completed 19-of-19 passes for 187 yards and two scores, he returned in the second half and kept his streak going.
In the third quarter, Rivers hooked up with running back Austin Ekeler to pick up his 23rd completion and set the NFL record for completed passes to start a game.

Of course, Rivers wasn’t done yet with his streak of perfection. A few plays later, he hit wide receiver Keenan Allen along the edge of the end zone for a touchdown and his 25th consecutive completion. The throw gave Los Angeles a 35-10 lead and matched the overall NFL record for consecutive completions.
