Nick Saban heaps praise on LSU ahead of pivotal game

Alabama head coach Nick Saban

Nick Saban and his Alabama Crimson Tide have cruised into November with an 8-0 record, but the head coach thinks highly of their upcoming opponent.

According to ESPN’s Chris Low, Saban said LSU will be the best team Alabama has faced this season and “it’s not even close.”

“LSU has a good scheme, guys in the secondary who go get the football, and [LSU defensive coordinator Dave Aranda] is a really good coach.”

Saban specifically pointed out the challenge his quarterback, Tua Tagovailoa, will encounter. The sophomore must be able to diagnose coverages even while Aranda makes calls that disguise the defense at the line of scrimmage.

And then there’s the LSU secondary, which certainly isn’t lacking confidence from its superstar cornerback heading into this game.

Yes, the Crimson Tide have won seven straight in the series and are two-touchdown favorites, per OddsShark. Tagovailoa has 25 touchdowns with zero interceptions this season — and hasn’t thrown a pass during the fourth quarter in any game so far.

But Saban and Co. know better than to overlook this LSU squad.
