NFL places Kareem Hunt on Commissioner’s Exempt list, renews investigation

The NFL has placed Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt on the Commissioner’s Exempt list following released footage by TMZ showing Hunt attacking and kicking a woman on the ground.

The NFL released a statement saying that Hunt was being placed on the list, and that the investigation will be renewed following the video that was released Friday.

Kansas City sent Hunt home on Friday within hours of the video’s release, though it didn’t release a statement along with it at the time. The video stems from an incident back in February when he was accused of attacking a woman outside his apartment.

The video showed Hunt charging at the woman as others try to restrain him. He then knocked one of his friends into her and kicked her while she was seated on the ground.

During Hunt’s absence, running back Spencer Ware is expected to fill in as Kansas City’s starting running back. The 27-year-old back rushed for 921 yards with 447 receiving yards in a breakout season with the Chiefs in 2016.

It is not known how long Hunt will be on the Commissioner’s Exempt list, however, it is likely his 2018 season has come to a close.
