Ian Book will start for Notre Dame against Syracuse

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish will have starting quarterback Ian Book under center next Saturday when they take on Syracuse.

Brian Kelly confirmed to reporters on Sunday that Kelly would be back after he missed Saturday’s blowout win over Florida State with a rib injury.

This is fantastic news for the Irish, who desperately needed Book back in the lineup to give themselves the best chance to stay perfect against a dangerous Orange squad. While Brandon Wimbush did throw three touchdowns against the Seminoles, he also threw two interceptions and completed less than half his passes.

Book has been a tremendously positive force for the offense. He’s shown himself to be far superior as a pure passer, and the Fighting Irish have become much more balanced on offense with him under center.

So far on the season, Book has completed 74.5 percent of his passes for 1,824 yards with 5 touchdowns and just four interceptions.
