Baker Mayfield not concerned about going up against Hue Jackson

In one of the top stories for this week’s NFL slate, Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns take on the division-rival Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday. The game itself might not feature contending teams.

Rather, it’s all about new Bengals assistant Hue Jackson taking on the team that just recently fired him.

Working on the defensive side of the ball for Cincinnati, there’s a thought process out there that Jackson will be able to provide his new team inside information relating to Cleveland’s offense.

If so, Browns rookie quarterback Baker Mayfield is not too concerned. In fact, he seemed to blow off said notion.

Indeed, Mayfield and the Browns have played much better since Jackson got canned after eight games.

For his part, the rookie No. 1 pick is coming off a Week 10 performance in which he threw as many touchdowns (three) as incomplete passes in a win over the Atlanta Falcons.

It’s also not like Jackson’s presence in Cincinnati has done much for that team. The Bengals are yielding an average of over 500 yards and 36.4 points over the past five games.

It’s almost like having an offensive-minded coach work on the defensive side of the ball isn’t a great idea. We’ll find out soon enough whether that continues on Sunday.
