Todd Bowles: Bilal Powell expected to make full recovery, play again

Bilal Powell will not play again in 2018 for the New York Jets. But while the running back’s season is over, coach Todd Bowles announced on Thursday that a full recovery from Powell is expected.

This is certainly welcome news. Powell was placed on IR on Wednesday. Shortly thereafter, it was revealed that the injury could be career-ending.

Powell, who will turn 30 on Saturday, came into the league in 2011 and has played the Jets through his entire NFL career.

Prior to his injury, Powell had rushed for 343 yards on 80 carries on the year. He added 11 receptions for 110 yards with a touchdown as a receiver and was on pace for 1,000-plus total yards prior to suffering said injury.
