Suns come to young boy’s rescue after birthday party goes wrong

A six-year-old Arizona boy was attempting to throw a pizza party for his birthday at a local restaurant this past weekend when something went horribly awry.

Teddy’s parents had invited 32 of his kindergarten classmates and their parents to celebrate his birthday Sunday afternoon at Peter Piper Pizza. Sadly, no one showed up. Not a single person.

“I’m done with parties for a while,” Teddy’s mother, Sil Mazzini, told ABC 15 in Arizona. While she might have been joking, it certainly had to be a hard day for the young man. We’re also prepared to shame the parents of the 32 children who did not show up. That’s just all sorts of mean.

The good news here is that the Phoenix Suns reached out to Teddy and invited him to celebrate his birthday at Talking Stick Resort Arena when they host LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday.

This is what you would call putting the “C” in community. No one Teddy’s age should feel alone on his birthday. And while it might not make up for Sunday’s mishap, he’ll now get to celebrate in fashion with thousands of fans.

It’s also not a bad consolation price that the youngster gets to see King James and Suns rookie No. 1 pick DeAndre Ayton go at it.

Good job, guys.
